The first CUSTARD expedition will depart from Punta Arenas on the 28th November. Aboard the RRS Discovery, scientists and engineers will head to remote waters beyond the southwest tip of Chile. During the expedition two ‘gliders’ and a mooring covered in sensors will be deployed to collect data throughout the next year. This data will enable greater understanding of the biological carbon pump.
